Born at Beth Israel Hospital in Newark N.J. in 1956, Judith Lois Fisher was raised in South Orange, N.J. For the next 50 years, each summer was spent ‘Down the Shore.’ Judith studied fashion design in NYC and found herself drawn more to the costuming end of stagecraft. Once Judith relocated to Los Angeles, she created the clothing stylist firm “Clothestrophobia” and was costuming musicians for rock videos, album covers and stage performances.
Judith’s interest in the Freed legacy began in 1978, when she began collecting rock ‘n’ roll memorabilia connected with the movie “American Hot Wax,” a fictional account of Alan Freed’s life. Soon after, she uncovered Freed family scrapbooks, consisting of news clippings and family photos, leading to her creation of alanfreed.com. Judith became creative consultant for ‘VH-1 Behind the Music’ and contributor to ‘Rock, Radio, Revolution’ rockumentary. After ribbon cutting Alan Freed SiriusXFM, Judith gifted the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame Museum and Library her Alan Freed collection, in its entirety. After four decades of research, Judith continues to maintain and update the website.
In 2009, Judith forwarded her expertise to designing, restoration and remodeling homes. This included building new houses. Judith’s involvement with real estate agents led to work home editing for photo shoots for marketing and sales. In 2020 Judith relocated to Music City, TN. The Freed Family Legacy continues with Judith’s youngest daughter Nettie Rose Freed’s recording studio, spellboundrecorders.com. Judith’s other daughters; Hannah Northenor, Isabel Freed and Sarah Bean Freed reside in their home state of California.
